it was 3am, and dark even for that kind of time. the clouds were tendrils blocking out slivers of the moon, and dimming what little visibility there was. if the witching hour was to be believed it was the time of evil things, dark spirits, and dread bargains. All of which were only true if you knew where to look.
Under the trees of one of the larger parks the city had, Lucas finally slid his fangs from the wrist of tonight's "donor", a homeless man named Trevor who had been meeting Lucas like this once a fortnight for the last 5 months. Lucas handed him 100 dollars and a pack of bandages, the same as he always did. For having what now counted as an almost steady income, Trevor was looking worse since accepting this job not better. he was far more gaunt, paler, his cheekbones showing more then ever.
"i'm killing you." Lucas said, his voice even, but regretful. "I don't understand, this shouldn't be happening. not from how much I've been drinking."
There was a flicker of sad amusement in the homeless mans face as he shook his head. "nah man nah.... not you Fangs." the nickname Lucas had never been able to shake. "Bad habbits and the money to indulge 'em again. catches up with ya."
Lucas didn't know what to say to that, it would be hypocritical of him to deride others for having 'needs'. instead he pulled an extra ten from his back pocket. "this? goes on FOOD. yes?"
Trevor eyed the bill thoughtfully, "you got magic lie detecting in ya Fangs?"
"Yes." Lucas lied with a smirk. "so is that a deal?"
"on me honour boy." Trevor said with a toothy grin that grew when Lucas slapped it into his hand. "thanks ya kindly."
Lucas just nodded and waved him off as the homeless man shuffled off to wherever it was he spent most of his time. after a moment the Vampire who'd stayed sitting on the bench realised there was still blood on his chin, brushing it away with the back of his hand he carefully licked it off. If he was slowly killing one of the only people he could almost call a friend for this, it'd be rude of him to waste it.
